Hi friends, I’m Desi. I’m a mom to an awesome little girl and a wife to a wonderful husband. I’m in my mid 40s, will soon be looking at 50 and am feeling better than ever. But it hasn’t always been this way.

In 2008, 4 years before I had my daughter, my fatigue was so severe I would get home from work and sit on the couch all evening. It was all I could do. Sometimes I wouldn’t even eat because I had no energy to deal with food. We wanted to start a family but the idea of becoming a mom seemed impossible. How could I take care of a child when I wasn’t taking care of myself?

On the advice of a friend, I saw a functional doctor who did thorough lab work and diagnosed me with Hashimoto’s Autoimmune Disease and Hypothyroidism. This information was a life changing event.

Ever since, I have been on a mission to learn everything I can about these conditions to get my energy back, lose weight and learn what it means to truly thrive.

The first big step for me was reading The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson where I learned about nutrition and our bodies. I started changing how I ate and saw results both inside and out.

From that point on, learning about health became a hobby and then a real passion. Most of my spare time over the last decade has been spent reading books, listening to podcasts and going through research on a wide variety of health topics like nutrition, ketosis, autoimmune disease, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, fasting, strength training, menstrual cycles and how they affect our workouts, sleep, stress and how all of it works together.

A couple of years ago I decided to go a step further and enrolled in the Primal Health Coach Institute and became a Certified Health Coach. Initially, I did it for myself. But the program was so thorough and impactful that by the time I finished, I felt confidant I could help others, too. I soon added a certification in Strength Training for Women and have since completed an extensive course on the thyroid, hypothyroidism and autoimmune diseases.

I am thrilled to take this step in helping others who are suffering or looking for answers like I was. My mission is to help others understand what amazing miracles our bodies truly are and to find ways to make small, sustainable changes that create big, lifelong results.
